It is with great pleasure that I extend an invitation to you for our inaugural Past

Presidents’ Reception honoring the contributions and leadership of past presidents.

Women Professionals in Government (WPG) was founded in 1981 by Mary Dipboye, a

graduate of the University of Houston, with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.

After taking a government relations job at Houston Lighting & Power (now Reliant

Energy), she decided to form an organization for women with careers in government. The

organization offers a network to provide knowledge, skills, and support for career growth

in the field of government throughout the Greater Houston Area. Since its’ beginning,

WPG has become a well-noted 501c3 organization with a diverse membership of both

women and men serving as elected officials, directors, managers, and staff who have

worked in city, county, state government and related positions.

As a Life Member you are a pillar of our organization. You deserve our deepest

gratitude for your continued support of WPG and we want to recognize you at this event

for your incredible loyalty. Your unwavering commitment allows us to reward

scholarships to outstanding young women and to actively support community

organizations that serve women and children.

The event will take place on January 9, 2025, 6:00 PM, at Gloria’s Latin Cuisine,

2616 Louisiana St., Houston, Texas 77006. This grand event aims to celebrate the legacy

of those who have shaped our organization and to foster connections among our esteemed

former leaders. In addition to honoring our Past Presidents and Life Members, we will

recognize the Fall 2024 Scholarship recipients.

We would be honored to have you join us for an evening of fellowship, reflection,
